We do more than use broadcast technology.
We build it too.

RadioTEDU is a student-led media lab building broadcast infrastructure, open-source software, artificial intelligence, interactive campus products and next-generation listening experiences.

Our technologies

More than broadcasting
a technology system.

Every project answers a real need: to focus, discover, vote, work together or carry radio to every screen.

Focus

A distraction-free listening space.

A focus-first listening experience that brings Lo-Fi, Jazz and Classical streams together with a Pomodoro timer, nature sounds and a calm interface.

  • Themed live channels
  • Pomodoro and nature sounds
  • Ready for mobile and desktop

Autonomous AI radio

AI radio that understands the flow of the broadcast.

rtAI uses live track data, station identity and broadcast context to build an autonomous radio flow. Open-source and local models turn AI from a showcase into real broadcast infrastructure. Between songs, an AI host considers the current track, what comes next and the station tone to create natural announcements.

  • Live broadcast and track data
  • Context-aware AI host speaking between songs
  • Announcements, programme information and natural transitions
  • Open-source, local-model approach

Local AI voice studio

Human-like voice, ready for broadcast.

RTAI Jingle turns your script into natural narration with local QwenTTS, balances music automatically beneath the voice and produces broadcast-ready jingles. It works without an account, telemetry or a cloud narration service.

  • Multilingual voice generation, including Turkish
  • Tone, warmth, energy and pace controls
  • Automatic music ducking and broadcast-level mastering
  • 48 kHz MP3 and 24-bit WAV output

Study virtual campus

The digital study layer of campus.

Study is an interactive virtual campus where students meet through avatars in spaces such as the library and Campus Lawn, work together and make their progress visible.

  • Navigable campus rooms
  • Avatars, outfits and personalisation
  • Study sessions, achievements and Gold

Live voting

The listener chooses the next song.

The live Voting system connects candidate tracks to the broadcast flow and collects votes in real time. When the countdown ends, the community choice becomes the next song on air.

  • Real-time candidate and vote data
  • Round-based countdown
  • Experience integrated with the mobile app

Mobilee app

All of RadioTEDU in one app.

Live channels, podcasts, rtAI, Voting, Study, games, profiles and the Gold system come together in one mobile experience. Background playback and system media controls make radio a natural part of the day.

  • Live radio and podcast library
  • Study, Voting, games and Gold
  • Notifications, lock-screen and Bluetooth controls

Jukebox

The digital jukebox for shared spaces.

The QR-enabled Jukebox lets students join the music flow around campus. Requests, queues and device management bring physical spaces and digital broadcast infrastructure into one system.

  • Quick access with QR
  • Queue and device management
  • Streams tailored to campus spaces

RTSAS · Icecast / SHOUTcast server

RTSAS serves the stream.

RTSAS is RadioTEDU's open-source Icecast and SHOUTcast compatible stream server. It accepts live sources on mount points, exposes Icecast 2 compatible status APIs and carries ICY metadata to listeners. Radio scheduling and playout belong to RadioTEDU OnAir, not RTSAS.

  • Live source ingest and authenticated mount points
  • Icecast 2 APIs with SHOUTcast / ICY compatibility
  • MP3, AAC, AAC+, Ogg Vorbis, Opus and FLAC pass-through

RadioTEDU OnAir · Broadcast automation

OnAir runs the radio automation.

RadioTEDU-OnAir-New is the separate playout and broadcast automation application. Its runtime prepares HE-AAC and FLAC outputs for Icecast and an HLS-ready delivery path, then sends the programmed broadcast to the server layer.

  • Radio playout and broadcast automation
  • HE-AAC and FLAC output pipelines
  • Icecast delivery with an HLS-ready runtime

Broadcast encoding

Fraunhofer HE-AAC v2, AAC-LC and FLAC

RadioTEDU streams high-efficiency audio encoded with an internally compiled, non-distributed build of FFmpeg using Fraunhofer HE-AAC v2 for efficient bitrate, AAC-LC for listening experience, with Classic and Jazz streams also available in master-quality lossless FLAC. See our technology page for more.

HE-AAC v2 prioritises efficient delivery for constrained-bitrate quality profiles. AAC-LC is used where a profile can allocate more bandwidth to stereo detail and listening continuity, while the Classic and Jazz FLAC options preserve the lossless master signal.

Event ticketing

One event flow from registration to admission.

RadioTEDU Ticket brings event listings, capacity tracking, attendee registration and QR-assisted admission control into one clear operations screen.

  • Capacity and registration management
  • QR-assisted admission control
  • Fast campus event operations

Staff management

The Hub that runs the RadioTEDU team from one place.

RadioTEDU Hub is an ERP system that connects staff and membership lifecycles with daily operations. It brings internal processes—from applications and team coordination to tasks and physical resource use—into one panel.

  • Member, application, profile and membership lifecycle management
  • Tasks, calendars, chat, training, availability and performance tracking
  • Studio, room, equipment, event and QR operations
  • Reporting, bulk email, notifications, merchandise and system access

Volunteer audio library project

A library recorded together for children with visual impairments.

Audio Library is a collaborative production space where volunteers record books in the browser, edit them chapter by chapter, run quality control and submit them for approval. Its goal is to build an accessible audiobook collection for children with visual impairments.

  • Book, recording-task and volunteer-lead management
  • In-browser recording, waveform editing, trimming, muting and level adjustment
  • Editor queue, re-recording, quality control and approval workflow
  • Audiobook archive import and library publishing
